Freilassung der noch lebenden Geiseln der Hamas

Nach 738 Tagen sind alle 20 noch lebenden Geiseln der Hamas frei.

Die Freilassung erfolgte im Rahmen eines Abkommens, das auch die Übergabe der Leichen von bis zu 28 getöteten Geiseln vorsieht – deren Zeitpunkt ist aber unklar. Zeitgleich begann Israel, rund 2.000 palästinensische Gefangene freizulassen. Die Befreiung löste in Israel Jubel aus, während die Angehörigen der Getöteten empört über die verzögerte Übergabe der Leichen sind. Der Austausch ist Teil eines von den USA vermittelten Friedensplans zur Beendigung des Gaza-Kriegs.
