Kaliforniens Gouverneur Gavin Newsom verurteilt die Festnahme von Senator Alex Padilla scharf:

„Senator Alex Padilla ist einer der anständigsten Menschen, die ich kenne. Das ist empörend, diktatorisch und beschämend. Trump und seine Schocktruppen sind außer Kontrolle. Das muss jetzt enden.“


In einem weiteren Post warnt Newsom:

Wenn sie einen US-Senator wegen einer Frage in Handschellen legen können – stell dir vor, was sie mit dir machen.“


Die Festnahme erfolgte durch FBI und Secret Service nach Padillas Protest gegen die aktuelle ICE-Politik.
