Vice President Vance: Sanctions and military measures against Moscow possible

Impending consequences: Vice President JD Vance stated on Thursday that the US would hit Moscow with sanctions and possibly even military action if President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a peace deal with Ukraine that guarantees Kyiv's long-term independence.

Option of military intervention: Vance stressed that the option of deploying U.S. troops to Ukraine if Moscow does not negotiate in good faith remains “on the table” - a significantly tougher stance than that of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who indicated Wednesday that the U.S. would not commit its troops.

Economic and military levers: “There are economic levers, and of course military levers, that the U.S. can use against Putin,” Vance said.
