Violent clashes broke out between the Lebanese army and Syrian militants on the Lebanese-Syrian border near Baalbak. Syrians tried to illegally cross the border into Lebanon using a bulldozer, whereupon the Lebanese army fired warning shots and was then fired upon, leading to a clash. According to other reports, the Lebanese army Army detained individuals who were trying to cross the border and were linked to the rebels. The militants appear to be affiliated with the SNA. Lebanese reinforcements were on their way to the area, since then the clashes have ceased and the SNA had to withdraw.
