IDF: Shaldag commando unit attack on an underground Iranian missile production facility in September

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Wednesday that an attack was carried out in September by the Shaldag commando unit on an underground Iranian missile production facility near Maysaf, Syria.

The operation was directed against two key targets: the Syrian Defense Industries Scientific Study and Research Center and the missile production facility operated by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Israel had been monitoring the facility for years and informed the USA about the operation in advance. Previous airstrikes on the facility had not had the desired destructive effect.

During the two-and-a-half-hour operation, the Shaldag commandos rappelled down from helicopters, entered the facility, confiscated important documents and planted explosive charges that ultimately destroyed the facility.

The regulation is intended to force platforms such as TikTok and Meta (Facebook, Instagram) to block access for minors, otherwise they will face heavy fines. The aim is to protect children from psychological and physical harm caused by excessive use of social media, particularly through problematic content. Reactions are mixed: while some welcome the law, others criticize it as an encroachment on freedom.
