Unemployment rate and employment barometer in germany

The unemployment rate based on the total civilian labor force in Germany remained unchanged at 6.0% in October, according to the latest monthly report from the Federal Employment Agency. Compared to the same month last year (October 2023), the rate has increased by 0.3 percentage points.

The ongoing economic slump is gradually having an impact on the labor market. According to a survey by the Munich-based Ifo Institute, companies are more reluctant to hire than they have been since 2020. The employment barometer fell from 94.0 points in September to 93.7 in October.
