The recovery work following the train collision near Kerpen continues. One damaged wagon has already been removed, with more to follow. A freight train collided with a construction train, derailing six wagons. The train driver was seriously injured, two others slightly.

The independent Calin Georgescu, who is campaigning for the normalization of relations with Russia, has won the first round of the Romanian presidential election. There will now be a run-off with the incumbent president in two weeks' time. But a political landslide has already happened. 

“According to a survey, a clear majority of men under the age of 50 in Germany say they would defend the country with a weapon in the event of a military attack. This is the result of the annual population survey conducted by the Bundeswehr Center for Military History and Social Sciences (ZMSBw) in Potsdam. 61% of those surveyed stated that they would be prepared to do so. In 2021, i.e. before the start of the war in Ukraine, 52% were still willing to defend themselves. According to the data, however, the willingness to defend themselves is significantly lower among women at 21%. In 2021, the figure was even lower at 11%.”

Germany draws up list of bunkers in case of increasing tensions with Russia. As a result of increasing tensions with Russia, Germany is drawing up a list of bunkers and shelters to provide protection for the civilian population in the event of an emergency. The list will include subway stations, parking garages, government buildings and private properties and will be accessible via a mobile app.
